as time goes by

It continues to amaze me how fast things go. I was just thinking this morning, looking at pictures, that it has been nearly TWO YEARS since graduation. It seems like yesterday, my high school friends and I were counting down to our last days of school and going to grad parties and tossing our caps in the air. It's ridiculous that in the last two years, some of us have proceeded to scatter all over the world, get married, or get pregnant.

Also, looking at old pictures, realizing how my babies are growing up--and they're not even mine! :-) All the kids that I have babysat since they were born are like....six and seven and eight now! It is soooo bizarre. They're huge! (and mouthy! ha) Can't imagine how fast it goes when they're your own.

AND....Chris and I will celebrate six months of marriage on February 9th. Crazy! We have successfully (almost) made it through our first winter with no significant damage. I am really excited for the weather to get nice again so that we can do more and be outside and run around. But holy cow! We were just planning a wedding!

Chris will be 21 in March and I turn 20 in April, which means I have been alive for TWO WHOLE DECADES.

It is so strange. It seems to drag on and on, but then all of a sudden, you look back and it's been weeks and months and years.

hmmm....anyway. I tried to make lemon bars last night. They taste good but they don't taste like lemon. Grrr. I followed the recipe exactly too, I swear! :-) I also used my crockpot (thanks Grandma!) the other night, I made this stuff called "hash brown soup", the recipe of a friend of mine at work. Chris calls it mush. Ha. It did kind of look like mush. But it tasted yummy, I thought. It's just hash browns, sausage gravy and bacon bits. (Mom calls it a heart attack in a bowl). I've been cleaning like a mad woman this morning (yes, Mom, actually cleaning), I cleaned the whole kitchen, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, cleaned out the fridge, and vacuumed upstairs and down. So ha! Tonight we're going to watch Joey and Kylah and then tomorrow we're spending the day with family. Chris' Aunt Cathy is here!

p.s. My mom's birthday is Monday!
